Caitriona Balfe of Outlander offers a tragic season 8 filming update.

Outlander fans are no strangers to extended waits for Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan) and Claire Fraser (Caitriona Balfe) to return to Starz and Lionsgate+.

While 'Droughtlander' has previously been in full force, supporters are hoping that the eighth and final season will not be too far away from the upcoming seventh season.

However, with the present writers' strike in the United States, it appears Outlander has not escaped untouched.

As a result of the WGA's [Writers' Guild of America] strike for improved compensation and working conditions, a number of TV shows and films have been pushed back.

Balfe has now stated that the Starz drama's plans have had to be reworked, explaining, "Well, we had a date.

"And who knows what will happen now that the writers' strike has begun? So we'll just have to wait and see."

That's certainly a significant thing going on right now in the United States, and it might change things.

The uncertainty about when production on season eight will begin will definitely be a setback for Outlander fans who are still reeling from the announcement that it will be the series' final season.
