Derek Carr Injury Update: Saints QB’s Diagnosis Revealed

New Orleans Saints quarterback Derek Carr was clearly in discomfort after Rashan Gary sacked him on a 3rd-and-9 Sunday. His diagnosis is official.

Gary wrapped up and blasted Carr to the ground for a third-quarter sack.

Carr walked off the field, but the Saints' training team examined his right arm as he proceeded to the locker room.

Carr has a sprained AC joint and is week-to-week. Former No. 1 pick Jameis Winston replaced Carr after his Sunday injury.

After two games with New Orleans, Carr is 2-0, completing 44 of 69 passes for 533 yards, a touchdown, and two interceptions.

Before the injury Sunday, Carr completed 13 of 18 passes for 103 yards. Winston went 10-16 for 101 yards after taking over.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported late Monday night that Saints HC Dennis Allen called Carr's strained AC joint week-to-week.

He said that Carr may not play Sunday against the Buccaneers due to the team's caution with their QB. As Schefter noted, Winston may be returning to his previous squad. Mayfield vs. Winston. It should be fun.
