How to Stream Hayao Miyazaki's Best Studio Ghibli Films, Including 'The Boy and the Heron'

Hayao Miyazaki, co-founder of Studio Ghibli and director of popular films such as Spirited Away, My Neighbor Totoro, and Kiki's Delivery Service, shocked fans when he announced his retirement in 2013.

Fortunately, it didn't stick, and soon Miyazaki was announcing his return to the industry to begin on his next — and possibly final — film,

The Boy and the Heron (originally titled How Do You Live? ), which will finally visit theaters in the United States this week after nearly a decade in development.

The new Miyazaki film, described as "semiautobiographical," follows the story of a young child dealing with the loss of his mother during WWII.

In the midst of his despair, he meets a gray heron that transports him to a wonderful land. The film's English dubbing cast includes Luca Padovan, Robert Pattinson,

Karen Fukuhara, Gemma Chan, Christian Bale, Mark Hamill, Florence Pugh, Willem Dafoe, and Dave Bautista.

Some critics have already dubbed The Boy and the Heron Miyazaki's magnum opus, but the director already has a plethora of good films to pick from.

To commemorate the premiere of this long-awaited new Studio Ghibli film (which may be Miyazaki's final), here's an updated ranking of Miyazaki's top Studio Ghibli films, along with information on how to see them.
