Patriots Trade for Old Favorite After Christian Gonzalez Injury: Report

Bill Belichick hasn't spent any time in bolstering his secondary after the injury to top overall pick Christian Gonzalez.

Following a transaction on Wednesday, October 4, the New England Patriots now have a new cornerback.

According to Albert Breer of MMQB.com, the Patriots sent a sixth-round pick in the 2025 NFL draft to the Los Angeles Chargers in exchange for J.C. Jackson and seventh-round compensation.

The deal was later confirmed by NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, who confirmed Gonzalez, drafted 17th overall this year, "is likely to miss the rest of the 2023 season with a torn labrum from a dislocated shoulder"

suffered during Week 4's 38-3 loss to the Dallas Cowboys, with the dynamic rookie set for "surgery soon."

The Patriots making the best of a bad situation by reuniting with Gonzalez. During four seasons at Gillette Stadium, the 27-year-old succeeded in Belichick's defensive strategy, garnering the moniker 'Mr. INT' in the process.

According to WBZ-News Staff reporting for CBS Boston, Jackson had a warrant issued "out of Attleboro District Court probation" in September. "After being charged in 2020,

Jackson was ordered to pay a $300 fine and attend a reckless driving class in March." Jackson was charged after allegedly going 100 MPH on Route 1 in South Attleboro.

A warrant was issued because prosecutors claimed Jackson did not follow his probation requirements and did not appear in court last week."
