Saturday's Powerball jackpot is the 3rd and 5th largest in U.S. history.

In 2023, Mega Millions and Powerball jackpots exceeded $1 billion four times.

"This marks the first time in Powerball game history that back-to-back jackpot cycles have generated billion-dollar grand prizes," Lottery Executive Director Eric Hagler said in his news statement.

"The Powerball jackpot was won for $1.08 billion on July 19. Since then, 32 drawings have gone without a grand prize winner."

Online ticket sales and an extra day have helped the Powerball and Mega Millions jackpots surpass records, according to a new survey.

9, 35, 54, 63, and 64 were the Oct. 4 drawing winning numbers for the $1.2 billion grand prize.

The winning Powerball and Power Play numbers were 1 and 2.
