It doesn’t matter if you live in a region that experiences four separate seasons or if you simply enjoy layering when the temperature drops at night; the most popular coats of 2023 should definitely be included in your collection of clothing.

Some people like to find one statement coat for the season, while others want to switch it up every time they go out the door. One of the best things about shopping for outerwear is that you have the ability to select your own adventure.

Despite the fact that toggle coats may appear to be a relic from the early 2010s, stylist Audree Kate López claims that they will be making a comeback for the fall and winter of 2023 respectively.

“We have witnessed the toggle coat becoming popular in preppy trends—think back to Taylor Swift’s retro/preppy era in 2012—which have made their comeback over the past couple of years, so it should not come as a surprise that this coat is trending for the years 2023 and 2024.”

According to López, the toggle accent will be available on a variety of garments in the coming months, including peacoats, shearling designs, wool coats, leather jackets, and more.

The Polo Ralph Lauren Oversize Cropped Wool-Blend Toggle Coat (which retails for $420), the Loft Sherpa Toggle Jacket (which retails for $105), and the Tuckernuck Cream Toggle Ali Coat (which retails for $174) are some examples of toggle coats that are now available.

She says, “I love that the toggle adds a point of interest to the coat as opposed to a regular button, and it also leans into the menswear-inspired clothing that a lot of designers have done [lately].”

She goes on to mention that some designers who have produced toggle coats this year include Prada (Kendall Jenner wore it on the runway, see here), Totême, and Lemaire for example.

Statement Puffer Coats

For the previous several years, puffer jackets have been a staple during the fall and winter seasons, and this trend is expected to continue in the year 2023.

“Puffer coats are easy to throw on over any outfit, and there is enough variety to fit every style,” says stylist and creative Mecca James Williams, who particularly adores the look of metallic and lacquered puffer Coat. “Puffer Coat are both comfortable and stylish,” Williams says.

Consider purchasing either the Superdown Missy Puffer Jacket ($110) or the Aviator Nation Sunburst Apres Puffer Jacket ($875) if you are looking for a shiny puffer that will give you a statement.

Maxi Wool Coats

As a result of the arrival of warm wool materials, the longline leather trench coat trend has been improved for use in colder weather.

According to López, “This is yet another menswear-inspired trend in which designers are taking inspiration from the past, specifically the 1800s to the early 1900s with long workwear wool coats.”

She notes that this year’s take on the maxi wool coat feels contemporary despite the fact that it is influenced by a historic silhouette. This is because it features tuxedo lapels, buttons that are enormous and ornamented, and printed linings that are appealing to the eye.

She would go so far as to ditch her black puffer in favor of a slightly oversized wool coat that layers well, keeps you warm, and looks “ten times more chic and fashion-forward,” despite the fact that the Y2K puffer resurgence is as fun and popular as it has ever been.

López is confident that long-line maxi wool coats are going to do extremely well in the weeks and months that are to come. She continues, “I can already hear the tall girls rejoicing because we are saying goodbye to the awkward knee- to calf-length coats and embracing the length this season.” This is because we are celebrating the length of the jackets.

Trench Coats

Trench Coat, in general, are a key trend for fall and winter Coat this year. As we noted before, the leather trench has been a staple in recent months, but trench Coat in general as well.

“Trench Coat are a timeless staple that can elevate any outfit and are perfect for everything from day-to-day activities to a fancy dinner out,” says Williams.

“Trench Coat are something that can be worn for any occasion.” They are wonderful for layering over sweaters and other Coat, and if you choose an oversized option, you can create the ideal layered appearance.

Williams proposes that you add a colorful trench coat to your collection as a way to add a creative spin to the classic trend with your outfit.

The Simon Miller Bruer Coat, which retails for $595, is her go-to leather trench coat. It comes with matching slacks that, according to her, “go great with a mesh top to complete the look.”

Animal Print

The leopard print, in particular, is considered to be a neutral at this time, and López is in agreement with this assessment.

This is what she has to say about her style: “In my opinion, animal print, plaid, and stripes are essentially a ‘neutral’ in my wardrobe.”

Every season, we see a variety of varieties, designs, and categories of animal print, but the print itself is something that never really goes out of vogue.

At the moment, we are witnessing a trend for Coat and shoes that include animal prints. Animal print has been seen in faux fur coats for the majority of the past few years; but, this season, we are seeing animal pattern coats made of patent leather, suede, calfskin leather, and wool.
